Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!
So happy it's finally here! Heart shape pancakes for breakfast..... coming up, kids! Yep, that's my contribution to hopefully start off their day off right..... throw in a few red M&Ms and they couldn't be happier.
And now that all of this Valentine's hoopla is just about over, I guess now is a good time to start thinking about all things spring and Easter and sunshiney, sweet parties. Yay! I can't wait for a little fun in the sun and some flowers. I have so many ideas for spring party themes, too -- I only wish there was more time in the day. Both of my girls have birthdays in the March and April, so it's about that time to plan, plan, plan!
And speaking of planning, I received an email a few days ago from a customer who is quite the planner herself. Tara lives in Minnesota and has a boutique party planning business called Shindig Diva. She recently came to the rescue when one of her best friend's in Florida needed a little party help with her son Gregory's 2nd birthday. Tara went to work and planned this amazing little party from 1,500 miles away and shipped the entire thing! How wonderful to have a friend like that.
Tara and her husband met Gregory's parents while in college together. But tragically, 2 1/2 years ago, Gregory's dad died in a motorcycle accident while his mom was still pregnant with him. So you can probably guess that Gregory holds a very special place in Tara's heart, and she really wanted to make his second birthday a special day for him.
Using the Shindig Parties TO GO new Sesame Street inspired printables and some other fun accessories, Tara assembled the entire party and shipped it straight to her friend in Florida.
The Sesame Street inspired line includes lots of cupcake toppers with the birthday child's initial and age as well as his name in a cute Sesame Street inspired sign, "Gregory's Street."
The water bottle wraps are a cute addition, too, with the birthday child's name personalization. I love how Tara used the favor tags on simple blue lunch bags from Target and arranged them symmetrically on the table. She says, "Favors for this party were simple. The Shindig Parties tags that said “Elmo loves his goldfish, Crayons too. Now so can you!” set us up for perfect favors. I simply printed the labels and taped them to bright blue bags. What’s in the bag? Well, crayons and goldfish!"
Just look at that sweet boy's face!
Tara describes how she came up with the place settings, "Keeping with the Elmo red, I found 12 x 12 sheets of paper, red paper cups, red square plate (Target), red and orange polka dot napkins (Target) and the icing on the cake – Elmo hat (Party City)."
She also made great use of the craft store 12"x12" scrapbook paper sheets by rolling them into treat cones for popcorn on the party table. This is a really simple idea that can be incorporated into all kinds of party tables and filled with a variety of treats from caramel corn to snack mix or potato chips.
